Centerlock disc brake hubs require one cap — but which one depends on your rotor type. TiNE makes both in Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V: the outer cap at 5.5 g for riders running six-bolt rotors on centerlock hubs, and the inner cap at 4.6 g for riders running native centerlock rotors. You pick one — not both. They are not interchangeable.

Important: The outer cap and inner cap are not used together. They serve entirely different functions based on your rotor type. You buy one — the one that matches your disc rotor mounting standard. Mixing them on the same hub is impossible by design: the outer cap covers the six-bolt mounting surface, while the inner cap threads directly into the centerlock spline.

| Why titanium for centerlock caps? | Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V has a far lower thermal expansion coefficient than aluminum (~8.6 vs ~23 × 10⁻⁶/°C). Disc hubs generate significant heat on long descents — aluminum caps can loosen under thermal cycling, while titanium maintains clamping force more consistently. |
Why the 0.9 g difference matters. The outer cap (5.5 g) carries an adapter sleeve that bridges six-bolt rotor holes to the centerlock spline. That sleeve adds structural material — and 0.9 g of weight. If you ride centerlock rotors exclusively, the inner cap (4.6 g) is the lighter and simpler choice. If you need the six-bolt adapter function, the outer cap covers both scenarios at a modest weight premium.
