Roval Rapide cockpit owners swap faceplate bolts and stem bolts routinely. But the most overlooked hardware is the M5×18 bolt-and-nut pair inside the bar clamp assembly — steel from the factory, titanium replacement at 7g per pair bolt-and-nut included.
Unlike stem faceplate bolts you can swap in 30 seconds, these clamp hardware are buried inside the cockpit assembly. You only get one shot per bar installation.
The Roval Rapide uses two M5×18 bolt-and-nut pairs — one per side of the integrated clamp. Not a standard hex-through bolt — it's a matched pair where both length and thread engagement matter. M5 diameter, 18mm length, nut included in the 7g measurement.
1、Best done during bar installation — the bolts sit partially buried inside the clamp assembly
2、Remove one pair at a time to keep bar-to-stem alignment
3、Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V, thin grease on threads to prevent galling against aluminum
4、Torque to Roval spec — clamp load identical to steel
These are the last steel hardware on a Rapide cockpit after the faceplate swap. Carbon faceplate (3.7–5.9g), titanium M5×18 pairs (7g), titanium stem bolts — the entire front-end clamping system becomes composite or titanium. No alloy left anywhere you can see from the saddle.
