The SRAM DUB bottom bracket standard uses a 28.99mm spindle diameter — a size that has become the default across SRAM's road and gravel crank lineup. Every SRAM DUB crank ships with a plastic or alloy crank cap that seals the non-drive-side end of the spindle. That cap weighs 16.1g in stock form. The TiNE titanium replacement weighs 10.5g — a 5.6g reduction from a component most riders never think about.
What does the SRAM DUB crank cap do?
The crank cap sits on the non-drive side of the SRAM DUB crank arm. It covers the spindle end and provides a seal against contaminants entering the bottom bracket through the spindle bore. It also serves as the interface for the crank bolt or preload adjuster, depending on the crank model.
How much weight does the TiNE cap save?
5.6g — from 16.1g stock to 10.5g titanium. The reduction comes from the material density difference: Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V is significantly lighter than the alloy or composite used in the stock cap, while maintaining the structural rigidity needed for the spindle seal and bolt interface.
Which SRAM cranks does this fit?
All SRAM cranks that use the DUB bottom bracket standard — this covers the majority of SRAM's road and gravel cranksets, including RED, Force, Rival, and Apex. If your crank uses a 28.99mm DUB spindle, this cap fits. It does not fit SRAM GXP or Shimano Hollowtech cranks, which use different spindle diameters and cap geometries.
Is the TiNE cap the same as the SRAM RED bolt kit crank cap?
It is the same component. The TiNE SRAM RED AXS titanium bolt kit (77.7g vs 139g stock) includes this DUB crank cap as one of its pieces. The standalone cap is for riders who want to replace just the cap without buying the full kit — or who have already replaced other hardware and want to complete the crank-end upgrade.
What colors are available?
Eight anodized colors: Gold, Blue, Candy, Silver, Black, Pink, Green, and Rainbow. The anodized finish is a surface treatment on the Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V — it does not add significant weight and does not affect the structural integrity of the cap. The color is visible on the outside face of the crank, making it one of the most visually prominent titanium upgrades on the bike.
| Crank Cap | Stock | TiNE | Saved |
| SRAM DUB Crank Cap | 16.1g | 10.5g | 5.6g |
| GP-3 / Cybrei Crank Cap | 15.3g | 12.1g | 3.2g |
| SRM / THM Crank Cap | ~16.5g | 12.5g | ~4.0g |
The SRAM DUB cap saves the most weight of the three TiNE crank cap options — 5.6g versus 3.2g for the GP-3/Cybrei and roughly 4.0g for the SRM/THM. That reflects the heavier stock piece SRAM uses: the DUB standard's larger spindle diameter requires a bulkier cap than other crank systems.
