What does a crank cap do on an SRM?
SRM mounts strain gauge electronics inside the crank spider. The caps cover access ports on both crank arm sides, sealing the electronics from water, sweat, and road grit. They also provide preload for the crank arm attachment — they're structural, not decorative.
Why titanium instead of alloy?
Weight and corrosion. Stock alloy caps weigh ~16.5 g per set. TiNE titanium caps weigh 12.5 g — saving ~4 g at the crank, a rotating mass point where weight has disproportionate impact versus static mass. Titanium also resists corrosion better, which matters for a component directly above the chainring that gets splashed with road spray on every ride.
Compatible with all SRM models?
Designed for current-generation SRM crank arms with the standard cap interface. Older SRM models (pre-2016) with different cap geometries may not fit — confirm your model year before ordering. The set includes both drive and non-drive caps.
Weight compared to other TiNE crank caps?
GP-3/Cybrei: 12.1 g (saves 3.2 g). SRAM DUB: 10.5 g (saves 5.6 g). THM: 5.1 g. SRM set: 12.5 g (saves ~4 g). The SRM set is the only one that includes both drive and non-drive caps.
Do titanium caps affect power meter accuracy?
No. The caps sit on the crank arm exterior and do not touch the strain gauge. SRM measures power through spider deformation, not the crank arm. Swapping caps has zero effect on calibration or accuracy.
