Headset Cover Weight: 5 Frame-Specific TiNE Versions 4.2–9.0 g

The headset cover sits at the top of your head tube — a small cap that preloads bearings and seals the steering column. Most riders ignore it, but it's one of the easiest weight swaps on a road bike.

TiNE titanium headset covers use topology-optimized design — organic shapes following natural load paths — to deliver strength comparable to alloy caps at roughly half the weight. Five versions cover the most popular frames.

What Does a Headset Cover Do?

Two jobs: compress headset bearings to remove steering play (preload), and protect the top bearing from water. A standard alloy cap weighs 8–12 g. Every gram here sits at the bike's highest point, far from the center of gravity — so reducing this weight shifts balance lower.

TiNE Weight by Frame Version

Version TiNE Weight Compatible Frames
Universal Round 4.2 g Most 1⅛" round head tube frames
Tarmac SL8 / SL9 6.0 g Specialized SL8, SL9 specific shape
EXS Aerover 9.0 g EXS integrated handlebar system
Pinarello 2025 8.2 g Pinarello 2025 head tube
Pinarello 2021–24 7.5 g Pinarello 2021–2024 models
Which version fits your frame? Universal round covers most 1⅛" frames. Shaped/aero head tubes (SL8, Pinarello, EXS) need the specific version. Check your head tube shape before ordering.
Topology-Optimized Design Computational design places material only along load paths — the result is an organic, biomorphic shape that looks distinct from alloy caps while maintaining full preload strength. Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V, CNC machined, 8 anodized colors available.
