If you're riding SRAM RED XPLR 13-speed on your gravel bike, you already know the drivetrain is engineered for rough terrain and long days off-road. What you might not have considered is that the stock steel bolts across the group set add unnecessary weight — weight that becomes more noticeable when you're carrying the bike over a hike-a-bike section or grinding up a 15% gravel climb.
A full titanium bolt kit replaces 41 steel fasteners across four subsystems: shifters, disc brake calipers, shifting components, and chainring. The total saving is 56.4 grams — dropping from 138.8g (stock RED AXS steel) to 82.4g (Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V titanium). That's roughly the weight of a tubeless valve stem and cap, removed from your bike simply by swapping bolts.
The kit is organized by SRAM's own group set architecture. Every fastener that SRAM ships in steel on the RED XPLR 13-speed has a titanium counterpart. Here's how the 56.4g saving breaks down across the bike:
| Subsystem | Bolt Types | Titanium | Stock Steel | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shifters | 4 types, 8 bolts | 2.7g | 6.9g | 4.2g |
| Disc Brake Calipers (incl. mount) | 8 types, 18 bolts | 18.7g | 32.9g | 14.2g |
| Shifting Components | 2 types, 3 bolts | 12.1g | 14.4g | 2.3g |
| Chainring | 4 types, 12 bolts | 15.8g | 24.7g | 8.9g |
| Total | 18 types, 41 bolts | 82.4g | 138.8g | 56.4g |
The disc brake caliper subsystem contributes the largest share of the saving — 14.2g out of 56.4g — because it includes the front disc mount, which alone drops from 12g to 6.5g. The chainring comes second at 8.9g, driven mainly by the crank bolt (11.2g to 7.1g) and the internal lock disc covers (8g to 4.6g for the pair).
Not every bolt in the kit saves the same amount. Four items account for nearly a third of the total reduction:
| Component | Titanium | Stock | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Front Disc Mount | 6.5g | 12g | 5.5g |
| 60mm Front Disc Mount (alternative) | 4.8g | 9.2g | 4.4g |
| Crank Bolt | 7.1g | 11.2g | 4.1g |
| Internal Lock Disc Cover (pair) | 4.6g | 8g | 3.4g |
Note on the front disc mount: the kit includes a standard mount (6.5g) and a 60mm long-mount option (4.8g). You use one or the other depending on your frame's flat-mount standard. If your frame takes the 60mm version, the total kit weight drops to roughly 80.7g — an extra 1.7g saved.
RED XPLR is SRAM's 13-speed gravel group set, and several bolts are specific to it. The XPLR rear derailleur pivot axle screw (11.3g titanium vs 13.6g stock) has a different spec than the road RED AXS version. The XPLR guide pulley screws and the 60mm front disc mount are also XPLR-only. If you're running a mixed setup — say, road RED AXS shifters with an XPLR derailleur — make sure you're selecting the right kit for each component.
Two items in the kit have identical weights in titanium and steel: the disc mount countersunk screw (0.9g each) and the XPLR guide pulley screw (0.8g each). You're not saving grams here, but you are upgrading from steel to Grade 5 titanium — which means better corrosion resistance, no rust streaks on your calipers after wet gravel rides, and the visual consistency of matching titanium across the entire group set.
All bolts are CNC-machined from Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V titanium and available in eight anodized colors: gold, blue, rainbow, silver, black, pink, green, and purple. The anodizing doesn't affect the structural integrity of the titanium — it's a surface treatment only. Standard hex fitting means you can install them with the same Allen keys you already carry in your saddle bag.
If you're building up or maintaining a SRAM RED XPLR 13-speed gravel bike and want to reduce rotating and unsprung weight without changing components, this kit covers every bolt SRAM ships in steel. The 56.4g saving is meaningful in a discipline where every gram matters on long climbs and where titanium's corrosion resistance pays off in wet, muddy conditions.
