Bar End Plugs — TiNE Titanium Hex-Star 3g Pair

Bar end plugs are the last piece you install — and the last piece most riders think about. TiNE's topology-optimized titanium plugs weigh just 3g per pair. Here's how to swap them without stripping bar tape.

Step 1: Remove Old Plugs Without Tearing Tape

Grip the outer edge of the plastic plug with needle-nose pliers and twist counterclockwise. Most stock plugs are push-fit with expanding ridges that grip the bar inner wall. If the plug is stuck, insert a 5mm Allen key into the bar end and tap from the opposite side until the plug pushes out. Bar tape stays on the bar — this swap runs blind.

Step 2: Measure Your Bar Inner Diameter

TiNE bar end plugs fit roughly 19mm inner bar diameter — the common drop bar standard. Most carbon and alloy road bars fall in this range. If using a clip-on aero extension or an unusually narrow bar, measure with calipers before ordering. One size fits most, not all.

Step 3: Press in the TiNE Hex-Star Plug

Each plug has a hexagonal star cutout — the topology-optimized lattice removes material from non-load zones, leaving a sculpted honeycomb that's both lighter and stiffer than a solid disc. Align the plug flat against the bar opening and press inward with your thumb. A snug friction fit holds it in place; no adhesive, no expanding wedge.

Step 4: Check the Fit — Tap and Test

Tap the plug with your fingertip — it shouldn't rattle. Give each end a gentle outward pull to confirm the friction fit holds. Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V with 8-color anodized finish. Pull them out with pliers when you re-wrap bar tape; reinstall in reverse.
