The disc brake center lock cap (outer) — the locking ring that secures your rotor to the hub — is one of the smallest parts on a road bike, but TiNE's CNC-machined titanium version at 5.5 g brings real advantages beyond weight. It converts six-bolt hubs to center lock compatibility and fits native center lock hubs as well, all in a single integrated piece.

What Makes This Center Lock Cap Different

Most center lock caps are simple steel locking rings — one function, one material. TiNE's version does more:

Step 1 — Six-bolt to center lock conversion. If your hub uses the six-bolt rotor mounting standard, this cap converts it to accept center lock rotors. The outer threading engages the center lock interface while the inner face seats against the six-bolt hub flange.

Step 2 — Native center lock compatibility. On hubs already using the center lock standard, this cap serves as a direct replacement locking ring — lighter, corrosion-resistant, and available in 8 anodized colors.

Step 3 — Integrated one-piece design. Unlike adapter kits that stack a converter ring plus a locking cap, TiNE combines both functions into a single CNC-machined piece. No extra hardware, no stack height increase, no loose components to track.

Step 4 — Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V construction. Titanium resists corrosion far better than steel in the brake rotor zone — an area exposed to road spray, brake dust, and wet-weather grime on every ride. CNC machining ensures precise thread engagement for both six-bolt and center lock interfaces.

Tip: Before installing on a six-bolt hub, confirm that your rotor's center lock spline depth matches the TiNE cap threading. Shimano center lock rotors are the standard reference — most third-party center lock rotors follow the same spline spec.

Weight and Function Comparison

The TiNE center lock cap (outer) weighs 5.5 g. Here is how it compares functionally:

Center Lock Cap Type TiNE Weight Six-Bolt Conversion Native Center Lock
TiNE Outer Cap 5.5 g Yes Yes
Stock Steel Lock Ring ~6-8 g No Yes
Six-Bolt Adapter Kit ~10-15 g Yes No

The TiNE outer cap is the only option that does both — converts six-bolt hubs to center lock AND replaces stock center lock lock rings — in a single 5.5 g piece. Stock steel lock rings only serve center lock hubs. Adapter kits only convert six-bolt but add stack height and weight. TiNE covers both use cases without compromise.

Compatibility Notes

The TiNE center lock cap (outer) is compatible with:

Six-bolt disc brake hubs — converts to center lock rotor mounting. Confirm your hub flange has sufficient clearance for the integrated converter profile.

Center lock hubs (Shimano standard) — direct replacement locking ring, lighter and more corrosion-resistant than stock.

Not compatible with large-axle hub standards that require a different center lock cap profile — use the TiNE center lock cap (inner) for those hubs.
