Giant Cadex Titanium Computer Mount 12.0g The 12g Dividing Line

In the 48-model TiNE computer mount lineup, there is a natural weight boundary around 12 grams. Below it, the mounts belong to compact aero bars and narrow stems — the 9.7g to 11.5g group. Above it, the wider integrated bars start to demand more clamp material. The Giant Cadex Race and Cadex Aero integrated handlebars sit right on that line: 12.0g standard, 19.5g 1050 Edition. They are the first models in the lineup where the standard weight crosses into double digits with a leading "1.2."

What Happens at 12g

The Cadex bars use a broader center section than the sub-12g group — the aerofoil profile flares outward where the stem clamp meets the bar, which means the titanium mount needs a wider grip face. That extra width adds roughly 0.5g over the 11.5g cluster (EXS Aerover, Scott Foil RC, Bigrock, Canyon CP0018). It is a small increase, but it marks a structural shift: bars at 12g and above tend to have dedicated cable routing channels through the center section, which forces the mount to sit slightly higher and cover more surface area.

In the 1050 Edition, the gap grows. At 19.5g, the Cadex mount is noticeably heavier than the 11.5g-bar 1050 mounts (which range 18.5g–19.3g). The wider bar center means the reinforced 1050 panel stretches further — an extra 0.7g to 1.0g compared to compact bars like the EXS or Scott Foil RC.

Cadex Race vs Cadex Aero — Same Mount

Giant offers two Cadex integrated bars: the Cadex Race (flat-top aero profile) and the Cadex Aero (deeper drop, more aggressive). Both share the same clamp interface geometry at the stem junction, so a single TiNE mount fits both. The weight is identical at 12.0g/19.5g because the difference between the two bars is in the drop and reach — not in the center section where the mount attaches.
