Titanium Bicycle Bolts — Full Bike Weight Reduction Guide

Titanium bicycle bolts replace steel one piece at a time — stem faceplate, seatpost clamp, disc mount, derailleur pivot. Each swap saves 5-10g. Combined, they trim roughly 40-100g from a complete road bike without changing geometry or interface standards. Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V handles the same loads as steel, with roughly 45% lower density and far better corrosion resistance in sweat-prone zones.

Stem Faceplate Bolts

TiNE M6 stem cap bolts come in 25/30/35/45mm lengths to match your spacer stack. Each weighs 2.0-3.3g. Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V resists sweat corrosion better than steel at the cockpit contact zone. Match 25mm for slammed setups, 45mm for tall stack builds.

Seatpost Clamp

The SL8/SL9 wedge-style binder gets a TiNE titanium upgrade at 4.4g — roughly 8.1g lighter than the stock 12.5g steel version. Same 6.5mm bolt pitch, same clamping depth. Install torque roughly 6-8 Nm.

Disc Brake Caliper Mount

TiNE's SL8/S5/S9-specific flat-mount piece weighs 5.9g versus stock 14.2g — roughly 8.3g saved at the front end. The universal version at 7.5g fits most flat-mount frames. Sunken bolt head keeps the outer face flush.

Derailleur Pivot Bolt

The Shimano rear derailleur pivot bolt is an overlooked swap. TiNE's titanium version weighs 2.0g — roughly 6.4g lighter than the stock 8.4g steel piece. Same thread pitch, same pivot function, lower weight at the rear derailleur's highest stress point. Available for 105 R7170, Ultegra R8170, and Dura-Ace R9270 series — each kit includes the pivot bolt plus cage and guide plate screws for a complete derailleur titanium upgrade.
