Shifter clamp bands sit wrapped around every drop bar — invisible except during install and crash inspection. TiNE's titanium V-clamp pair weighs just 9.6g, cutting roughly 22.8g versus SRAM Red and roughly 24.2g versus Shimano 8170/7170.
Two shifter clamp bands anchor your brake levers to the bar. Stock steel bands on SRAM Red weigh roughly 32.4g per pair — more than most titanium stem bolts combined. TiNE's Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V pair at 9.6g cuts that by over two-thirds. Less rotating mass at the cockpit, less steel wrapped around carbon bars.
| Groupset | Stock Pair | TiNE Pair | Saved |
|---|---|---|---|
| SRAM Red | ~32.4g | 9.6g | ~22.8g |
| Shimano 8170/7170 | ~33.8g | 9.6g | ~24.2g |
| Shimano 9270 | ~21.6g | 9.6g | ~12g |
TiNE's V-profile clamp band distributes bolt tension across a wider contact arc than standard flat bands. The curved inner face — contour-machined to match handlebar diameter — spreads clamping force evenly, reducing hot spots on carbon bars. Single band weight: 4.8g. No anodizing on this part; raw titanium surface avoids coating thickness tolerance issues on precision clamp faces.
Shifters must be removed from the bar — bar tape comes off. Slide the TiNE band around the bar at the clamp position, mount the shifter body, and torque to roughly 4-6 Nm. If re-using bar tape, check that torn tape edges don't interfere with the clamp interface. The clamp band sits under the hood — invisible once installed.
