Removing 12.4 g here has disproportionate impact on how the frame carries over barriers and responds during out-of-saddle efforts, more noticeable than removing the same weight from a lower position like the derailleur or chainring.

The Specialized straight seatpost — used on SL6, SL7, SL8, and SL9 frames — has a pair of opposing bolts at the seatpost head to clamp the saddle rails. These bolts thread into each other from opposite sides — a "opposing bolt" or "对锁" design where one bolt serves as the nut for the other. TiNE's titanium replacement bolt set weighs 7.1 g per pair and replaces the stock 19.5 g steel pair directly — same threading, same bolt length, same seatpost head interface.
Compatibility note: This bolt set fits the Specialized straight seatpost, which can be used on SL6, SL7, SL8, and SL9 frames. The bolts clamp the saddle rails via the straight seatpost head — compatible with all four Tarmac generations that use this seatpost type.
Seatpost clamp bolts sit in one of the most corrosive environments on a road bike — directly under the saddle, exposed to sweat dripping from the rider, road spray from the rear wheel, and occasional chain oil overspray. Stock steel bolts develop surface rust and thread degradation over time, especially on bikes ridden in wet conditions or stored outdoors.
Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V resists corrosion far better than steel in this environment. The CNC-machined threads maintain precise engagement over years of use — no thread binding, no corrosion-induced resistance when adjusting saddle position or performing maintenance.
