A typical road bike carries 4 bottle cage bolts — two M5×10 mm (short, for the down tube cage) and two M5×14 mm (long, for the seat tube cage, which needs extra length to pass through the frame insert). In stock steel, each bolt weighs roughly 1.2–1.5 g. Across four bolts, that is 4.8–6.0 g of steel doing nothing but holding a water cage — a component you remove every time you wash the bike.
