Upgraded your CeramicSpeed pulley wheels but the cage bolts are still steel? That's the mismatch nobody talks about — you've spent serious money on the wheels themselves, then the very bolts holding the pulleys in place are the heaviest, most corrosion-prone parts on the rear derailleur.
CeramicSpeed has changed the pulley cage geometry twice. The bolt thread pattern is different between the old cage (used on most OSPW systems before 2023) and the new cage (current production), so the bolt you need depends on which cage you have:
| Cage Version | TiNE Weight (set of 4) | Stock Steel | Saved |
|---|---|---|---|
| Old cage (pre-2023) | 1.9 g | 3.6 g | 1.7 g |
| New cage (2023+) | 2.4 g | 5.2 g | 2.8 g |
Titanium pulley bolts require a different torque pattern than steel. Steel bolts clamp down hard and stay put; titanium bolts have more elastic recovery and need the alternating pattern to seat evenly across all four positions without binding the cage. The TiNE specification for CeramicSpeed cages is:
Go over 1.0 Nm on titanium and you'll stretch the bolt threads; go under 0.3 Nm on any of the four and the cage will shift under load and the pulleys will rub. The 1.0/0.3 Nm pattern is the only documented specification for CeramicSpeed titanium pulley bolts.
Aluminum bolts would be lighter still, but they don't have the fatigue life for the high-cycle vibration a rear derailleur sees on rough roads. Titanium Ti-6Al-4V holds torque without thread stretch, doesn't corrode against the aluminum cage, and weighs roughly half of what steel does. The set of four saves 1.7-2.8 g — small in absolute terms, but it's rotating mass at the back of the bike where unsprung weight matters more.
Verify your cage version first. If your CeramicSpeed OSPW shipped before 2023, you need the old-cage bolts at 1.9 g per set. Current production cages take the new-cage bolts at 2.4 g per set. Mixing versions will result in bolts that don't seat properly. Both versions come in TiNE's standard 8 anodized colors.
